Thomas Harting slept in a railway station

Discus thrower Robert Harting won over a nation unused to celebrating German sporting success when he ripped off his shirt and jumped hurdles on his lap of honour.

His celebrations went a little downhill from there however, after a night out on the MS Deutschland cruise ship anchored on the Thames.

“I just got robbed while I did some work to please athletic fans! I lost all my accreditation for the Olympic village!- no entrance” Harting wrote on Twitter.

It’s nice to know that the Park is as difficult to get into for Olympic champions as it is for the general public.

Harting told a German newspaper that he had to sleep in a train station.
